Indie AI Lab is an open notebook for AI used in actual work — not slides, not demos, not "look what's possible." Each post is something we tried, with the prompts, the code, the bill at the end, and what we'd do differently next time.
What this is
We're interested in the gap between "AI can do this" and "AI did this for me, on a real project, with real constraints." Most of what's online lives on the "can" side. We're trying to publish more from the other side — where the model picks the wrong format, the API bill surprises you, and the first plan needed a correction.
What you'll find here
- Real workflows — Claude, Gemini, GPT and other APIs wired into something that needed to run, not just respond.
- Honest numbers — what something actually cost, how long it took, how often it broke.
- The stumbles — bets that didn't work and why, posted on purpose. The corrections are usually the useful part.
- Code and prompts — the actual scripts and inputs, included with every post when they make sense to share.
Who it's for
Solo builders, indie devs, and small teams who want to use AI as a real tool — not a magic trick — and would rather see one honest run-through than ten breathless "this changes everything" threads.
What we won't do
No hype-cycle posts, no "10 mind-blowing prompts," no claims we can't back up with a working file or a real number. If a thing is interesting, the specifics are too.
